Electric Power Steering Conversion Kit with Black Ididit Steering Column for 1965-1966 Mustang & 1960-1967 Falcon/Comet.

Add modern electric power steering to your Mustang! This kit can either eliminate leaky, over assisted factory power steering or convert from manual steering!

How does it work?
A microcomputer measures the amount of effort on the steering wheel and amplifies it with the aid of the electric motor. A dial allows you to adjust the amount of power assist. For example, you can have maximum assist in a parking lot, and less on the highway!

What’s included?
Kit includes:
-Electric power steering motor
-Pre-wired control module
-Wiring harness with dial for steering assist level
-Firewall plate with column shaft support bearing
-Steering shaft with u-joints

-Chromed Ididit Tilt Steering Column

Most of this kit with the exception of the steering shaft fits completely under your dash. So for the most part it’s out of sight and pretty stealthy!

What about the installation?
This conversion works with your existing steering box. If you have factory power steering it is recommended you remove factory power steering equipment including the slave cylinder & control valve. If you elect to do so, replace the center link, tie rods, and adjusting sleeves with manual steering components (not a bad idea anyway if the steering system hasn’t been rebuilt recently).

Installation requires cutting the steering shaft, some drilling & tapping. No welding needed.

The only real wiring involved is a power feed and a ground. Otherwise it’s plug in and go. The motor only draws 9 amps, so electrical upgrades should not be needed. The motor can handle virtually any driving including at the track. Should you lose voltage for whatever reason, the car reverts to manual steering.

If you have an aftermarket manual rack & pinion, you may need a different u-joint adapter.

Instructions are included. This system is engineered and assembled in the U.S.A. and is backed by a 5-year Manufacturer’s Warranty.
