I need some input from anyone. This is a 68 289 gtcs with straight stock except headers into a dual exhaust . I have been trying to isolate a problem; Its not a constant issue but what happens is after its been running on short or long trips, it will begin to stumble and idle rough, like its an overheat matter. I've gone from a 2 chamber to 4 chamber radiator, flushed, swapped out top and lower hoses and changed temp sensor to make sure the gauge is correct. All the temp problems, if their were any, dont show themselves. I changed out wires, plugs, dist cap and the rotar. The fuel pump was changed too. THe carb had a rebuild on it when I first got the car a few years ago so it "should" be ok. It runs like a champ at start up. Runs fine most of the time. Then without any warning, starts the trip-and-stumble bit after its been on the road awhile. Not EVERY time. Would a carb swapout be the next move. ..? Is this perhaps a vapor lock? I've never had one in any old stang before. It did it again yesterday after I filled the gas tank. Any related activity with that? I'm runningout of ideas... (Sorry for the long post, but this has been going on awhile...)
